Simple and Timeless Halloween Decor Staples
These simple and timeless Halloween decor staples can be used year after year, and will never go out of style! Beautiful, neutral pieces that add nicely to the spooky season.
Halloween is right around the corner, and this is one of the first years I’ve actually put thought into decorating for it. I usually decorate for fall and leave it at that. But this year I added some simple and timeless Halloween decor staples for the spooky season!
I know Halloween decor can be very in your face, loud, and just not ideal for some people. The good news is, there are a lot of neutral, toned down decorations that can compliment your design style these days.
I’ve always hated missing out on decorating our house for Halloween. I’m so glad I decided to mix a little spooky fun into our fall decor, and my girls love it too.
So here are a few Halloween additions you can add, that in my opinion, will always be true Halloween staples year after year.
Ceramic Ghosts
Who doesn’t immediately think of ghosts when they think of Halloween? Ghosts are the OG of all things spooky, so I had to mix them in.
I found these ceramic ghost candle holders at Walmart, so I grabbed two. They are great to use as intended with taper candles, but you can also just set them out without like I did.
Black Spiders
I absolutely love the look of these black spider taper candle holders. They are heavy duty, and remind me of something you would find at Pottery Barn. I found them at Kirklands for way less.
Black taper candles would look great in these on a dining room table, or just displayed as is like I have them here. Again, you don’t have to use things as they are intended and they still look great.
Fun Jack-O-Lanterns
I’m a complete sucker for a good jack-o-lantern. They are the biggest staple of Halloween, and always a classic addition.
I grabbed a few of these terracotta pumpkins from Michaels last season, and this black metal one is one I spray painted that used to be white and orange.
Never forget, if you like the bones of something, you can always change the color!
Witch Hats
My girls are witch obsessed this year (their chosen Halloween costumes too). I bought a package of witch hats for decor and they stole them immediately.
They even went as far as to grab the garage broom and their toy broom to “fly” around the cup-de-sac one night.
I found these absolutely adorable felt witch hat garlands at Walmart, and thought they would be perfect to hang on my shutters. They are probably my favorite addition.
Paper Bats and Crows
These seem to be a fan favorite for simple Halloween decorating, and I can see why. Cheap, and so incredibly easy with a huge impact. Definitely something anyone can grab and put up for the season.
I put up bats in our dining room, and crows in our living room. These can go anywhere in any design.
I hope I’ve convinced you that Halloween decorations can be simple, beautiful, and flow into your fall decor naturally.
It’s a fun season to decorate for, and I wouldn’t want you to miss out just because Halloween decor can be a little too much!
