Cozy Fall Home Tour: Neutral and Warm Living Room and Dining Room
Explore our cozy fall home tour for inspiration on creating a warm and inviting living and dining room this season. Discover neutral decor tips that bring falls charm into your home.
The weather is starting to change and to me, there’s nothing better than creating a cozy fall home, decked out for the new season. It’s something I look forward to all year!
And you bet the second the calendar flips to September (or who am I kidding, even August), my mind is set on dragging out the fall totes!
This season, I’m excited to share a tour of my living room and dining room, decorated with neutral, warm tones and textures, to create that perfect cozy vibe.
If you love the idea of keeping your decor calm and peaceful while still capturing the perfection of fall, these ideas are for you!
Embrace the Earthy Tones in a Neutral Palette
When it comes to fall decor, many people think of bold oranges, deep reds, and rich browns. But you can achieve that cozy fall vibe even with a neutral color palette too.
In my living room and dining room this year, I’ve added my favorite earthy tones like dark browns, beige, deep burgundy, olive greens, and creamy whites as the foundation.
Start with your larger pieces, like sofas and rugs, in neutral shades. From there, add layers with throw pillows in muted shades of tan and gray (with or without pattern).
Of course for fall, I love plaids and buffalo check. So I’m always reaching for those first!
To keep things interesting, I mixed in a few patterned pillows too, in subtle, neutral prints. This combination creates depth and keeps the space from feeling too flat or monochromatic.
Layering Textures for Added Warmth to Create a Cozy Fall Home
In a neutral space, texture is always key to creating a cozy, inviting environment. I focused on layering different textures in both my living room and dining room to add warmth and visual interest.
From throws and pillows, to wood and metal accents, woven baskets, crocks, brass pieces, candles, vintage books, fall foliage, it all mixes so well to create the perfect fall feeling.
Bringing Nature Indoors with Seasonal Greenery
Fall is the perfect time to bring a bit of the outdoors inside. Or fake it like me with faux fall foliage! (Because usually my posts go up way before the leave change colors).
While I’ve kept my color palette neutral, I’ve added warmth and life to my home by incorporating seasonal greenery and natural elements. These touches not only brighten up the space but also add to that cozy fall feeling.
In the living room, I used some faux fig leaves on the coffee table, and some burgundy faux planters on my end tables.
I’ve always incorporated my usual eucalyptus (that can be out year long) in the dining room and entryway. That can be paired with just about anything, like the faux fall flowers in the crock on my dining room table, or the little basket of burgundy stems in the living room.
Mix and match! You can even throw in bright branches like the yellow fall maple leaves I have in my entryway hanging basket. Subtle amounts of color doesn’t overwhelm the neutral color palette like you think it would.
Cozy Fall Dining Room Decor, Simple Yet Impactful
In the dining room, I’ve kept things simple but still full of fall charm. The key here is to balance functionality with seasonal decor so the space remains inviting for everyday use and special occasions too.
I paired some of my normal everyday table decor with a few different things, such as the crock of fall flowers, a couple little pumpkins, and the cute brass duck.
A simple centerpiece with added fall pieces for a regular dinner, or for hosting a few friends or family!
By focusing on earthy neutrals, layering textures, and incorporating natural elements, I’ve created a cozy fall atmosphere in my living and dining rooms that’s both warm and inviting.
Whether you’re looking to refresh your space for the season or simply enjoy some fall decor inspiration, I hope these ideas help you bring a touch of cozy fall charm into your own home.
