DIY Halloween Pumpkin Stakes
Make these easy DIY Halloween pumpkin stakes to dress up your pumpkins without having to carve them. A festive way to personalize each pumpkin without the mess.
We are nearing the end of October, which means we are getting closer and closer to pumpkin carving time. But I have another fun way to get creative with your pumpkins, and that just so happens to be these DIY Halloween pumpkin stakes.
This year while I was browsing online for this seasons best Halloween finds, I came across some really unique pumpkin stakes from Anthropologie. They looked simple enough to make, so I thought I’d give them a try.
Supplies Needed for Pumpkin Stakes
- Wood Halloween Cutouts – Check Michaels, Dollar Tree, or Hobby Lobby
- Paint/Paint Brush
- Glue
- Thumbtacks
- Sealer (optional if using them outside)
Directions for Pumpkin Stakes
- Start by painting the wood Halloween cutouts black (or color of choice). I actually used a black chalkboard paint to make them look a little worn.
2. After the paint was dry, I used a hot glue gun to glue a thumbtack to the back of each cutout. I didn’t have black ones, so I painted the tack black too. (Obviously you don’t have to do that, the tack doesn’t show from the front.)
3. Once the hot glue is dry, you are ready to attach them to your pumpkins. Just gently push into each pumpkin where you want them. Easy as that!
Get Creative with your Cutouts
I love using raw wood cutouts for projects like this one. You can get as creative as you want with them. I painted mine black, but you can use any color you want.
A wood stain would look great, to keep with the wooden look. If you have little kids who want to do this project, they can color them with markers or crayons. The possibilities are endless.
Attach to Real or Faux Pumpkins
I have all my pumpkin stakes attached to our porch pumpkins, but you can use them for inside decor too. If you have any faux pumpkins, these attach nicely to those as well (if you don’t mind the tiny tack hole they leave).
Or to go even further, use them on a cork board instead of regular tacks for the spooky season.
I hope you try this cheap and easy Halloween DIY out! It’s a fun one for the whole family, and is an extra way to get creative with your pumpkins, but without the mess of carving them.
