Christmas Home Tour 2017

Christmas time is here my friends! It always tends to sneak up on me, but this year I was prepared for it. And now I get to kick back and share our green and black plaid Christmas living room and Christmas tree with you all!

All of my shopping is complete, the presents are wrapped and under the tree, and my house is fully decked out. I am so beyond ready to enjoy it and soak up the season.

My goal this year was to have everything done the weekend after Thanksgiving. I wanted to focus on being a little less stressed during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. And I think I’m off to a good start!

Picking Out Non-Traditional Christmas Colors

This season I strayed far from traditional with my color scheme. Instead of the traditional reds, greens, and whites, I went with deep hunter greens, blacks, and whites.

I complimented those colors with brass and wood decor accessories here and there to add in some texture and more variety of color.

My entire design inspiration was centered around a black and green plaid wrapping paper that I found and fell in love with. It always tends to be a fabric design or wrapping paper design that leads me to my theme each year.

Adding in Soft Textures for a Cozy Feel

Winter is the coziest season of them all, so adding in soft textures is a must. Knitted throws and pillows add instant warmth. I always have baskets all around my house filled with extra throws when needed.

I also mixed in velvet too, and am kind of obsessed with the green color. Velvet screams Christmas and winter to me.

Natural and Neutral Christmas Decor Accessories

Garland, pinecones, and simple natural and neutral looking Christmas decor has been my thing with holidays lately. You just can’t go wrong when you bring the outside looking elements inside.

I also used some very cheap, simple wreaths, added some black ribbon, and adorable little brass bells. They work so well on doors, mirrors, and even hung on my gallery wall in the living room.

Green, Black, and White Natural Christmas Tree

Decorating the tree each year and picking out a theme for wrapping paper is my favorite thing ever. I’m not going to lie, I usually base my color scheme on which wrapping paper I fall in love with each year.

So that is where the greens, blacks, whites, and browns come from. Yes, wrapping paper. I am obsessed.

I added hunter green and black ornaments, with some white braided and balled garland, black ribbon, and brass bells. The whole combination turned out great and compliments my wrapping paper.
