Brown and Brass Christmas Tree with Ribbons

My most hated and most loved part of Christmas decorating is by far the Christmas tree. I don’t enjoy the process, but I love the end result. And this year, I really loved decorating the Christmas tree with ribbons.

I’ve had my mind set on going ribbon crazy this season. Like I said in my last post, ribbons are really having a moment, and I am so on board with that!

So I collected what ribbons I wanted to use long before they sold out, and I held onto them until it was time. I needed them to go with my brown and brass color theme, and I think they worked out perfect!

Always Double Garland

I like to double up on my Christmas tree garland. I think it makes the tree more interesting, and works great when you can’t decide which one you like better! Use multiple!

When I start to decorate my tree I always place my bead garland first, and then go in with a ribbon of one of the main colors I am using. This also creates a nice flow down the tree.

Use Ribbons as Ornaments

I basically used the ribbons I collected for decorating as ornaments on our Christmas tree. You can achieve this look by simply cutting them all at different lengths, tying them into little bows, and setting them on branches.

I used velvet frayed goldish/brown ribbon, satin champaign ribbon, and just regular goldish/brown ribbed ribbon, all found at Micheals and Hobby Lobby.

Brass and Wood Ornaments

We use the same ornaments every year. There is no need to go buy new ones when I love the ones we have collected over the years.

They are just simple wooden ornaments I stained a long time ago, little brass bells I scored at Hobby Lobby in the craft section for cheap, and regular ball ornaments.

I did have a little stash of brass Ikea ornaments I got on clearance one year that I decided to add this year. But first I went over them with some Rub’ N Buff to make them look a bit more aged.

I’ve had a small collection of different colored ball ornaments, but other than that I just change out the ribbon color each year if I want a different look.

Wicker Tree Collar

We went many years without a tree collar and I can’t imagine how. Once I finally bought one, it was a total game changer.

Tree collars make a huge difference. I found this one on sale at Hobby Lobby for super cheap, and I’m so glad I did. If you don’t have one, definitely consider getting one.

Always White Lights

This Christmas tree was a hand-me-down from my husbands grandma and we have had it for over ten years now. It was pre-lit with white lights, but since then the lights are slowly going out.

I’ve been buying strands of white lights and just putting them in the spaces that went out. But I will forever be team white lights, no matter what tree we have.
