Office Memo Board

I come up with project ideas in my head all day long, and this one we finally got around to doing last weekend! I am so happy with the way it turned out and it makes for better organization in my office too. I had this chunky, black cork board sitting on my cubbie since we moved into the house, and I hated it. It just didn’t fit my style anymore. I wanted something that went with my office color theme, greys, whites, and stained wood pretty much. So we headed to Lowes for all of the supplies and made this lovey DIY office memo board!

The project itself isn’t difficult at all. We used a 2x4ft hardwood board for the backing that I painted white. I spray painted some chicken wire black and stapled it to the backing, and we used 1×3 boards for the frame.  Once the frame was screwed onto the hardwood, we just added some hangers on the back and it was ready to go!

Do you like it? I love using the clothespins to hang wedding invites and cards that we get, just so they can be displayed and don’t end up in a pile somewhere.

  1. My ex husband made me something similar, he framed in a white board, and then did chicken wire on the bottom half (he did mine vertically). I love the white behind the chicken wire though I may have to replicate that on mine!

  2. Can you show me what the back of your board looks like? I want to put one up in my office at work but I need to make sure that I won’t do damage to the walls.

  3. I made one of these today. It was fun to do. For those asking if the chicken wire will be too close to the board. No, it doesn’t lay completely flush, so there’s a bit of room to attach a paperclip

    1. I’m really wondering this too … It seems to me that the chickenwire would be too close to the back board and not enough room for the clothes pin …. ?! Would love to hear that I’m wrong!

    1. I know! Aren’t they perfect!? I found them in an antique mall for a few bucks a piece, love them! Glad you do too 😉

  4. This is really cute! I really like using the clothespins to hold items onto the memo board. It looks like you are using mini ones in the picture…is that correct?

    1. Thanks so much Crystal! I love using the clothespins on the chicken wire, I found these mini ones at Michaels! They have them in different colors which is awesome, might have to go back for more!

      1. I bought mini clothespins at various holidays to make them themed from the dollarama store (canada). I have heart ones, christmas ones, st. pattys ones. It makes it fun
